This collaboration with illustrator extraordinaire, Debra Cartwright is a dream come true. Debra, and I quote from Huffington Post editor, Priscilla Frank, is an artist who creates whispered watercolor portraits of stunning black women that seem to float with a feminine buoyancy".
This design element makes the candle a real keepsake.
"IRIE was inspired by my birthday trip to Jamaica. I wanted to capture my experience in the scent of the candle." - LIT Brooklyn Founder, Denequa Williams.
This scent has notes of coconut, sea salt, and hibiscus. It's exhilarating, dreamy, & tropical.
CAUTION: We are not responsible for the sudden urge to pack your bags and book the next flight to Jamaica.
Debra Cartwright is a New York based illustrator focused on depicting the beauty and spirit of the African American woman—something quite lacking in the mainstream of fashion illustration. She studied Art History, Studio Art and Graphic Design at University of Virginia and Parsons School of Design. Brooklyn based, she is influenced by social issues, beauty standards and the media’s influence on the perception of beauty. After working as a graphic designer in marketing departments at Condé Nast and Time Inc, she broke into full time freelance illustration last year. Her clients have included HBOs Insecure, Ebony, McDonalds, Essence, and Harper Collins.
